Right now I am going to cover how to solve a common web site problem and get paid whenever a web site owner builds a new site. You could also get paid again whenever someone enlarges their site, and get paid again when someone moves their site.

Finally, they realize that they need to take orders, and that requires an order taking system or shopping cart. When they are faced with all of this, a beginning web marketer’s first reaction is to panic! They realize they don’t know how to do all of these things, because 1) they either don’t have the knowledge and when they look at the task it is frightening, or, 2) they are really busy setting up their business operation and they don’t have the time.
That presents an opportunity for you! You can become what I call a “CGI installer for hire!”
Most of all these features I’ve mentioned are simplistic little programs called CGI programs or CGI scripts. CGI stands for Common Gateway Interface.
In simple terms, it just means these are small programs which you add to a particular location on the server. They run on the server doing all the things that I just covered. CGI programs do everything from count the visitors to operate shopping carts.
Even though these programs are simple, though, they can be a nightmare to install, because they use terms that most people are not familiar with. It involves config files, setting permissions, and people get really paranoid when they run into all of these terms and situations - particularly new owners!

The truth is, these programs are very, very easy to install. You don’t need to know anything about computer programming. You don’t need to know anything, except for how to follow instructions very well, because almost every CGI program that I’ve ever seen comes with a “read me” file that tells you exactly what to do. As soon as you understand the terms and have installed a couple of programs, they are really a piece of cake!
Here’s an opportunity to charge site owners a flat fee to install their scripts for them. I say “a flat fee” because once you’ve installed a few scripts you’ll know exactly how much time it takes. It doesn’t take much time at all! If you say you are going to charge a certain amount an hour, it could frighten an owner, because they look at their site and they don’t understand it. “I’ve spent hours working on this thing and I don’t understand it!” they think. Therefore, they assume it is going to take you hours!
If you are charging an hourly fee, they’re going to freak! The secret is to charge them a flat fee because you know how quickly you can really do it. You can charge them $50, $75, or $100 to install a CGI script (depending on what your time configurations are) and you can do it very simply and very quickly. You’ll know exactly what to do and exactly where to go.

Now the question is, what’s the best way to build this business? The CGI scripts are all over the Internet and they’re free. Therefore, you can go out and find the ten most popular scripts. (They are rated in various places.) Then you get the ten most popular scripts and you load them on your web site. Then you promote your web site as a location to get the scripts. Set it up so they can download the scripts for free.
Remember, you have to let them download the scripts for free, and every place you have a script listed, you should also list your cost for installing the script. This way they can download the script for free, and they know exactly what it is going to cost them for you to do it.
As soon as they look at it and throw their hands up in the air, they can give you a call. You take their credit card and you can sit home literally in your underwear. You can install CGI scripts any time of the day or night, right in the server! All they have to do is give you the information that you require, the password to their server, and so forth. You can go in and install the script very, very easily! And yes, it is easy to do once you are familiar with it.

If you don’t want to do all this work yourself, it would be very easy to find some college students to do it for you. You could even find several college students and let each one of them specialize in one or two of the scripts. Every time you get an order for the scripts, you pick up the phone, call them, and say, “Hey, install this script for me. Here’s the information.” Then you split the money. You could actually do this even if you don’t want to get into the installation of the CGI scripts yourself.
How do you build your business? You’re going to list all the programs that you have and pick them in different categories, such as the popular referral “tell a friend” program, or the “shopping cart” program, right on down the line...calendar, order form, form mail, so some-one can get anything they want right off your site. They can download it and get it installed.
So, how does it keep making profits for you? The longer people have been on the web, the more features they want to add! Also, each time they do, there’s a good chance that you can install another CGI script.
How do you make money when they move? Every web site moves at some point. No webmaster ever seems to be 100% satisfied with their host. They’re always saying things like, “The service wasn’t good when I called. I need more space than they’re giving
me. I found it cheaper some place else.”
When they move their site, they’re not just transferring the site. Most times all those CGI scripts have to be reconfigured, because there are different paths to the program, and 90% of installing a CGI script is just telling it where to find information and where to put information. Therefore, when they change servers, that means there is another opportunity for you to work for them again. You continue to promote your business by sending periodic e-mails telling your customers about new CGI scripts that you have on your site, or other things that you can add to their site which will enhance it. That should keep you in more work than you can possibly handle!

Nobody Wants Your $100.00 Bills... But You Can Still
Get Rich On The Web!
The topic for now is going to be, “Nobody Wants Your $100 Bills, But You Still Can Get Rich On The Web.” This is a hot little item reported by Marquee Target Marketing recently that caught my attention.
In a marketing test, an Internet company ran an ad on their site. They were prepared to give away $2,000 in one hundred dollar bills. Here’s the ad:
“Free $100 Bill - Yes, it is true! We will send you a crisp, new, real $100 bill if you act quickly. All you have to do to receive this $100 bill is to pay $10.95 for overnight delivery. Act now, this offer is legitimate but it is limited!”
Holy cow! Guess what? Nobody took advantage of this offer! Not one single person. They were prepared to give away a couple thousand dollars at $100 a hit, but nobody asked for a free $100 bill.
Now I ask you, would you spend $10.95 for delivery by UPS or FedEx to get $100? Of course you would! I know that I would!
Why didn’t anyone take advantage of this super offer? In a nutshell, nobody believed the ad. Nobody thought that anybody in their right mind would give away hundred dollar bills! This situation comes down to trust and credibility - or the lack of trust and credibility at any rate.

That’s the reason most people are not buying from YOU on the Internet, or not buying from YOU often enough, regardless of what you’re selling. You’re not selling hundred dollar bills, but you have merchandise, products, information, and other such items.
To increase your sales you’ve got to build trust and credibility. Regardless of how good your ad or sales material is, folks won’t buy unless they really believe they can trust you. You must bend over backwards to show people you’re worth their confidence and trust.
Here are six ways (there are more, I’m sure) to build the kind of trust that is vital to your success.
1) Identify yourself.
The web can be a very personal or impersonal media. You want to make it personal. Don’t hide behind a company name. If you’re A & B Marketing because your name is Al and your wife is Bonnie, you should display a photo of Al and Bonnie to show that you are real live human beings. That’s who people want to do business with.

2) Make it very, very, very easy to contact you.

3) Whenever possible, offer free samples.
This is easy to do if you’re selling information products. You let people see a couple of the reports you have, or maybe let them download a chapter from a book you have. If you’re selling regular products this technique is a little bit more difficult to use. Then you have to use a different approach.
For example, if you’re selling watches that you import from Hong Kong or Taiwan you can’t give away samples. Still, you can have a thorough description of the product on your site, plus one or more sharp, clear photos of the product. These things are very important when selling merchandise!
4) Provide feedback.
You want the testimonials of other people who are satisfied with the business they’ve done with you. Great testimonials from happy customers build confidence and trust.
5) Offer a powerful money-back guarantee.
Leave no question or doubt in the potential buyer’s mind - no five or ten day nonsense! Your guarantee should be at least 30 days and it should be absolute. It should be completely risk-free to the buyer. This builds great confidence.

15 Ways To Get Rich
With E-Mail!
Now, I’m going to talk about 15 ways to get rich with e-mail.
I was going over some of the direct mail articles and books that I have written and I realized (surprise, surprise) that most of the same advice I was giving people on writing powerful sales letters applied to e-mail. There are a few nuances that are different but, basically, they are the same. So here we go in rapid fire! Fifteen ways to get rich with e-mail!
Number 1 - Before you even start, you have to know as much as possible about the people that you are going to e-mail. That’s the same as it is with direct mail. You’ve got to know about their desires, and their hopes, and their fears, and their passions, and make sure that you’re targeting your e-mail to the right people.
Number 2 - We want to start our e-mail with a strong, bold statement. This can be news if our product or service is news. We can possibly use the how, what, who, and why - the classic newspaper approach. We can tell a story with A strong narrative. We can ask a provocative question.

Number 3 - We have to stress benefits. Benefits, benefits, benefits. I always say that and it is true. It is “What’s in it for you?” not “What’s in it for me?”
Number 4 - Let’s keep the copy tight. I am all in favor of long direct mail letters, such as eight pages, twelve pages, sixteen pages and more. After getting pounds and pounds of e-mail almost every day I have changed my mind when it comes to e-mail.
We have to make our letters a little shorter, but to the point and full of benefits. I don’t want to get a 20 page rambling e-mail from someone. I would rather get four pages, or two pages.
If we’re going to send just two pages, we ought to write four pages and then we ought to cut it down so that we can use it in that way. Make four pages into two so it really gets our points across.
Number 5 - Let’s talk about a super benefit right up front, and what the reader will get if he finishes reading this e-mail.
Number 6 - Let’s keep it personal, just like in direct mail. We may be e-mailing to 50,000 people or more, but we want every person who receives it to think it is personal e-mail.

Number 7 - Let’s keep our sentences and paragraphs short and easy to read.
Number 8 - Let’s not forget that if we send some graphics with our e-mail that the words we send are the most important thing.
Number 9 - Let’s offer some freebies, some free reports or something that doesn’t cost anything. Offer these especially if we’re trying to make a sale or using the freebie to get someone else’s e-mail address.
Number 10 - If we’re going after a sale, we can use both a freebie and a discount. This is double dynamite. You’re selling something for $195.00 and you’re going to give them $50.00 off if they act in the next five days, plus we have three super bonuses we’ll give them, too. That can work wonders.
Number 11 - Let’s tell the people exactly what actions we want them to take. We have to
lead our people to take the action we want.
Number 12 - It is a good idea to use testimonials. People are always interested in what other people say. I think Amazon.com is doing such a great job with this when they are selling books and CD’s. They have all this input from people who have bought from them that says, “This book is great and here’s why it is great.” Or, “This CD is great and here’s why it is great.”

Number 13 - Let’s summarize our offer even if we only write two, three, or four pages. Let’s use that last paragraph or two to summarize exactly what we’re giving them.
Number 14 - In direct mail a P.S. is a must and I think it is important in e-mail, too. People will read our postscripts, so let’s add that to every e-mail that we send.
Number 15 - Let’s eliminate the risk by offering a strong guarantee and a free trial period. It works well in mail order, and it also works on the web. People want to know that they will get something from you, if they buy it, with the right to return it. In fact, I just recently heard on the news that some people were having problems with some web company on getting their returns back. That’s a big mistake! You want to make it so easy for people to buy, but you also want to have a great guarantee that lets people return if they’re not happy with what they get.
So if you practice these fifteen steps to creating e-mail riches, I think you are going to make a lot of money!

With NO PRODUCT!
The beauty of selling advertising is there is no product. There are really no customers. You just have a few sponsors you deal with. You don’t have shipping and receiving, merchant accounts, packaging, UPS, returns, and all of the tasks you do when you sell a product.
We sell products, so it’s not the end of the world to have to do all of that. We do it here, and it’s part of business. But the dream of every marketer is to have some simple product - something that makes money without all of that baggage.
That’s how these advertisements are. You are basically selling electrons. It’s amazing!
You can do this! You don’t have to have a joke-of-the-day, but some of the other entertainment and fun services and markets that we have noticed are 1) horoscopes. I know people that check their horoscope every single day. It is like the joke-of-the-day where you reach them 365 times a year. That’s a lot of impressions - and you can sell advertising.
There is software that you can get for free or almost free that will put the horoscopes on your site. A lot of people are adding this to their site. They don’t necessarily have an astrology site, but they just put the horoscope on there as part of the site. One site that does this, for example, is a match site where you match up with people. It is not an adult thing in any way. It is very wholesome. They have a horoscope on there that says, “Check your love compatibility horoscope.”

There is a bit of a slant. It doesn’t talk about how today is your day to get a raise, or make more money, or anything like that. It’s a romantic horoscope, and they put that on their site just so people will come back. And it works great!
Speaking of matchmaking. There are two web sites, match.com and matchmaker.com, that both sold recently. One sold for $70,000,000.00 ... and it was selling a matchmaking service! I believe it was $39.95, and they were signing up 10,000 customers a week. So this sale was to buy this up and running business with the cash flow. But it is entertainment and fun. Nothing serious about it. No product delivered. All electrons.
A friend of ours has a website where he reviews wines. He’s finally loading the photos in there. He has the Sony Mavica camera, which he bought it at Office Depot. He snaps a picture, he pulls out a disk, he loads it into his computer, and BOOM the photo of the bottle of wine is on his site. Then he writes a short blurb.
The wines are written about in many magazines and newsletters. One man has a newsletter about wine. It is $40.00 a year, and he has thirty thousand subscribers and makes over a million dollars a year just writing about how tasty these wines are! And, all the wineries send him the wines for free.
Our friend’s site will be like that but it won’t be in print. It will be free, but he’ll sell advertising. Same idea.

Repeat Business Can Make You Rich! Find Out Exactly How You Can Get It!
Repeat business is the key to profits. If you have many customers that are happy with you and keep doing business with you, you have the key right in your hand.
When you have customers that continually buy from you, you have gained yourself a profit base that you build on with your offers that attract new customers. This way your repeat business or “back-end” sales is your foundation - your control amount - and you keep adding to it with your offers designed to gain new prospects.

An Incredible Opportunity!
Let’s give you a quick example of how this benefits the person who is an affiliate in one of these two tier programs. Let’s say, for example, that there’s an informational product selling for $100. Let’s say in the standard affiliate program that you get signed up with, whenever you send someone to that site through your link you get $50 of that sale. You keep half.
Let’s say you make one sale a day. You get one person a day going to that site and purchasing it every single month. So you’re making $50, half of the $100 retail amount, every single day for thirty days. With that one affiliate program you would be making about $1500 a month. Not too bad!
Now let’s look at what can happen with the two tier program. Let’s say in the same example you have a $100 retail product - $50 for every sale that you make - but let’s say that when you sign up affiliates and they make sales, they keep $50 but you get $20 from every sale that they make.
Now remember, they’re not actually making sales and you’re not actually making sales. The affiliate web sites are making the sales, but the sales are coming through links on their sites. Now let’s say that you have just fifty people that have signed up as affiliates under you, and each one of those people make an average of about a sale a day.

Let’s just do this on a monthly basis. Fifty affiliates who are making one sale a day, and you’re getting $20 per sale - it adds up very quickly. In fact, that adds up in one month’s time to $30,000. With the power of the two tier program, you go from $1500 to a potential $30,000 and that’s with just fifty affiliates that have signed up under you, making one sale a day of a product.
That’s the power of the two tier program, and it’s why a lot of affiliate programs are getting into it. If you do have an affiliate program, this is something you might want to look into. It’s as easy as creating an affiliate program. You have just created a system where you are now letting people - paying people - to sign up other affiliates.
One of the problems some of these affiliate programs had was when they would send people to that affiliate site was that they would become very angry because it was easy for people that they sent there to also become affiliates. After all, you sent it to them promptly and they didn’t have to wait very long. Making people feel good about you and your business is the first step to getting people to do more business with you!
To many people this might seem like common sense, but there are many mail-order firms out there that don’t ship as fast as they could or should. Right from the onset when you run your lead generation ads you’re trying to attract people that have never done business with you before.
It’s very important that right from the beginning when they first respond to that lead generation ad that you ship the product to them immediately so you can make a good impression upon that customer.

The Secret Authors And Publishers Have Been Using For YEARS To Bring In Even More Money – Without Having To Write ONE SINGLE NEW WORD!
The most successful authors and publishers continually bring out reissues of older volumes or combine the best together. Look at the “best of” albums that are released by every major recording artist. They put out five albums and then they release a “best of” album. These “best of” collections are simply songs pulled off previous releases to create a new product.
The best example I can think of comes from years ago - about 27 years ago, in fact. A friend of ours was involved in a limited edition chat book series featuring famous science fiction authors. He was doing an original story for each little chat book. He didn’t have much money, but he did have a lot of determination at that age.

Asimov said, “Hey, you just caught me off guard, I really like the idea, I’ll write the story.” Our friend apologized later when he sent Asimov the $200. He said, “I know it’s not a lot of money.”

Asimov had his marketing all figured out for that story long down the road. He just thought that our friend’s idea was a neat way to launch it.
I know that when I created my first product someone asked me, “Will each chapter stand alone as a separate product?” I said, “What? I never even considered that fact.” They said, “Yeah, look at it this way. Write your book but make sure you get at least eight or nine separate products out of that, even just printed products.”
Can you take chapters out of that publication, retitle them, and allow them to stand alone? If you can’t then go back and look at what you plan to do, because you should get another six or eight products out of that. That was my first exposure to this idea. It’s like it never even crossed my mind that it would have multiple uses.
It’s a tremendous concept - if you do ten chapters and they stand alone in addition to getting ten products you can also take those ten chapters and turn them into ten articles in magazines. Just tell the magazine publishers either on-line or off, that at the end of the article you want a resource box that tells people this is a chapter from your book, and that it’s just a small percentage of the book.

These are a couple of good examples of fear tactics used in ad copy, no matter what medium. By using these sorts of messages in your copy is how to use the power of fear to get people to buy your products and services from your website!
The more you’re able to create a sense of fear in that prospect - a feeling of dread, that if they don’t do exactly what you say they’re not going to get that great product - The more urgent it will be to that prospect to buy what you have to offer.
So, when it comes to creating the sales copy for your website, consider using “fear copy” very seriously. The more they’re afraid, the more they’ll buy!

We can boil this down to two words - Collector Clubs.
If you take any item that people collect and value and they are buying, trading, and swapping, there are clubs in just about any size of community that support those collectors.
We have a friend who used to work in a pipe shop. He had, and still has, a very nice collection of smoking pipes, an he still occasionally enjoys them to this day. He was involved in several pipe clubs. They would buy, sell, swap, and trade pipes.

Somewhere in that list there will be some great benefits, and some of the benefits in that list won’t be very good. But they have a list of one hundred benefits, and that is more than enough benefits to build a good ad around.
You have to make a strong case for your product or service because no one is going to buy it if there aren’t strong compelling reasons to buy it. And to increase your chances of having the strongest case possible, you have to have as many great things to tell them about the product as you can.
